Peace and Protection Movement

As part of this years' DPAC celebration UNICEF Brazil, Pastoral da Criança, National Council of Christian Churches (CONIC), World Vision Brazil and the Presidency of the Republic, are organising a celebration in Sao Paulo on 23 November to formalise a new partnership through the launch of the "Peace and Protection Movement".

Positive discipline, birth registration and promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence are among key issues to be addressed through this collaboration. The initiative aims to reduce violence at community level and ensure strengthened outreach of protection services to the most vulnerable children and their families. Different religious communities (Catholics, Protestants, Evangelical and Afro-Brazilian religious groups) aim to integrate this movement with representations all over the country.
