Week for Holistic Welfare of Children—14 to 20 November 2013 in Bankura

Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Belur Math, West Bengal in active collaboration with ‘Organization for Friends, Energies and Resources (OFFER)’, Kolkata, West Bengal and under the overall patronage and support of Arigatou International, New York Secretariat, USA present the Week of Holistic Welfare for Children.

Through a series of group meetings, rallies, seminars and symposia, workshops, exhibitions and posters, street dramas, etc. designed specifically for children along with their parents/guardians (mainly mothers), teachers, and local administration, the organizers seek to educate the wider community across 19 districts of West Bengal.

Additionally, copies of “Positive Parenting and Non-Violent Discipline" by Arigatou International translated into Bengali will be distributed to approximately 1000 families and teachers throughout West Bengal.


The main focus themes for the Week include:

  • Positive Parenting
  • Value Education for parents/guardians and teachers particularly in the matter of handling, caring for and providing protection for children
  • Special Prayer for Children
  • Awareness about and remedial measures for problems of children like immunization, child marriage, child trafficking, etc.
  • Creating environmental awareness among children
  • Various cultural events for children
  • Special programmes for special children (mentally challenged, physically disabled etc.) and for HIV-affected children


These themes will be implemented through the complete list of programs and workshops as follows:
