Observation of World Day of Prayer and Action for Children in Occupied Palestine Territory

On the 20 November, the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children and the Universal Children’s Day,  the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA), and the Director General of the Counselling Department of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE), were interviewed on Palestinian TV highlighting children’s rights to protection form violence. They specifically spoke to the role that religious leaders and schools can play in preventing violence against children and reinforcing positive, non-violent parenting behaviors, as part of the roll out of the new policy of non-violence and discipline in schools. Over the week following 20 November, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in partnership with UNICEF, also supported 150 Imams to attend the morning broadcast in schools and host morning sessions with children, parents and school staff on the issue of violence.
