Interfaith Prayer With Children In the Wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic

Promoting a Non-Violent Childhood in Somaliland (Hargeisa)

WAMY Kenya proposes to be the DPAC implementing partner in Isiolo (Kenya) and Hargeisa (Somaliland) for the 20th November 2013 activities. To achieve this WAMY Kenya, GNRC Africa members, children from selected peace clubs, interfaith groups, NGOs and CBOs members will endeavor to do the following activities on the 20th November 2013:

  • Pay visits to a Children’s Homes in Isiolo and Hargeisa during the Morning of 20th November 2013 where special interfaith prayers will be held for all the children and their caregivers.  
  • Organize open forums in Isiolo (Kenya) and in Hargeisa (Somaliland) where children NGOs and CBO will be encouraged to give presentations on the status of children in Kenya and Somaliland.
  • Training teachers, caregivers and parents on positive parenting will also be undertaken on the open forums.
  • Churches and mosques in the two towns will be encouraged to provide guidance/sermons/Khutbah on the need for protection of our children and the importance of birth registration.
  • Children will share their stories and aspirations under the theme of children’s voices using song dance short skit play or short poem or kaswidas (Islamic songs).
  • Local media will be invited to cover the events.
