Message from the Chairs: Call to Action

Dear Friends:

Your kind words and prayers were conveyed to our colleagues at the Arigatou International in Japan in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake, tsunami and consequent nuclear crisis.

The latest news reports that at least 4,200 lives were lost and more than 8,100 people are still missing.  Over 440,000 people are displaced and are staying in the evacuation center with limited access to food, water and heat.

We received the following message from Rev. Keishi Miyamoto, President of Arigatou International.

At this time of enormous challenge that people of Japan face, let us offer our support in whatever forms we are able.  Some of you have contacted us asking for ways to provide monetary assistance.  Here are two recommendations:

American Red Cross

Japanese Red Cross Society

Funds of any amount offered to Red Cross will reach the people affected by the earthquakes and tsunami directly.  The people of Japan need and will appreciate your help.

We will keep you informed of any developments in the next weeks to come.

With solidarity we remain,

Sincerely,
Kul Gautam and Hans Ucko
