Planning Committee Meets in Geneva

Planning Committee for the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children was convened in Geneva, Switzerland 8-9 June 2010. The Committee discussed various topics to help facilitate the planning of the World Day in 2010.

Rev. Keishi Miyamoto, President of Arigatou International, opened the meeting by conveying his appreciation for the Committee’s leadership in 2009 and hopes that this initiative would grow steadily around the world and bring together people of all walks of life in Prayer and Action for Children.

Chaired by Dr. Kul Gautam, former Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF, and co-chaired by Rev. Dr. Hans Ucko, a renowned expert in interreligious relations, the Committee spent two days delivering on range of topics including: the role of the Planning Committe in 2010, events in various regions of the world and importance of child/ youth participaiton.

Participants represented a broad range of stakeholders, including many of the world’s religions, UNICEF, UNESCO, the GNRC, and the Interfaith Council on Ethics Education for Children.
