World Day Activities in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Religious Affairs, with UNICEF support, organized radio and television interviews with mullahs who also used Friday prayers to highlight messages on ending violence against children.

In Afghanistan, as part of an ongoing partnership with UNICEF, the Ministry of Religious Affairs organized radio and television interviews with mullahs the week of 20 November, and mullahs affiliated with the Ministry used Friday prayers on 25 November to highlight messages on ending violence against children. Prior to the 20th, three airings on 43 radio stations throughout the country of Child’s Home Radio Magazine – a weekly radio serial providing child-friendly information about children’s rights – were dedicated to the World Day of Prayer and Action, including interviews with religious teachers and information about Islamic tenets on child protection.
