World Day Observance in St. Vincent and the Grenadines

In St. Vincent  & the Grenadines, with UNICEF support, a variety of Child Abuse Awareness, Recognition, Prevention and Treatment activities commenced from April to December 2012 to commemorate Universal Children’s Day on that day. A Children’s Conference is planned for November 20. Other activities include the completion of the Child Abuse Protocol and Reporting Guidelines, the completion of the UN CRC State Report on the Status of Children in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, simplification of the two new children’s laws into a child-friendly version and a layman’s version, workshops, staff training sessions, interactive public discussion, interactive radio link-up programme and whistle stops – i.e., drive through the communities and disseminating  information by way of a public address system and printed materials. Target groups include:  school children, police, ministry staff, members of the National Committee on the Rights of the Child, Principals of Primary and Secondary schools, School Guidance Counsellors, Private and Public Sector Organizations and the general public.
