In Swaziland, the World Day of Prayer and Action for Childrenstarted off with a one day workshop (on the 19th) to sensitize the eight faith groups on the recently passed Child Protection and Welfare Act, Immunization, birth registration, violence against children and child trafficking. Also, the Day of Prayer and Action was used as an opportunity to highlight engagement and progress to date with faith-based organizations to address violence against children that began in 2010 with the first national conference attended by the eight major faith groups and included the development of concrete action plans for the care and protection of children. Each of the faith groups shared readings / scriptures on child protection and also recited prayers and presented plans for 2013.
