World Day Observation in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, with support from UNICEF, organized the following activities: November 16 Friday Prayers throughout the country focused on violence against children; development and dissemination of key messages  to all Ministry of Religious Affairs  provincial departments; related national television broadcasts; and a national conference on violence against children with approximately 500 religious leaders that was broadcast nationally. As a result, thousands of worshippers in hundreds of mosques across the country listened to and participated in discussions on prevention of early and forced marriage, corporal punishment and the importance of birth registration.
