World Day Observation in Cambodia

In Cambodia, UNICEF and the Ministry of Cult and Religions developed messages on violence against children, alternative care and family preservation to be distributed to 2000 to 3000 faith leaders throughout the country over the course of the year. During the National Religious Congress in December 2012, all faith leaders will sign a commitment for children and become part of the Monks Declaration. The declaration, which concerns leaders of all faiths (not just Buddhist leaders), highlights the priorities and activities for monks in the coming year. Following this national event, monks from each province will benefit from training at the national level, gaining an opportunity to look at child protection issues in more detail. In response to high demand, similar trainings will take place at the provincial level  in early 2013 throughout the country.
