World Day of Prayer and Action in Burundi

On 26 November, a workshop on the topic of sexual abuse will be held for local live-in nannies. These nannies, usually uneducated girls aged 10-12, are often victims of sexual abuse by their male employers, which results in many unwanted pregnancies. The young girls are then forced to raise children not recognized by their fathers and often struggle with severe poverty and stigma.

Workshop organizers aim to educate about 30 or 40 live-in nannies from the city of Bujumbura on how to best protect themselves and handle unwanted advances from their male employers, as well as teach them their legal rights and the rights of their children.
