The 20 and 21 of November 2010 a group of young people, from various religious communities coming from different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina will meet in a two days workshop to reflect on peaceful ways of living together and celebrate the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children.
The agenda of the workshop includes a panel discussion on the importance of mutual respect and understanding for living together; a reflection on the Convention for the Rights of the Child and a visit to a child center for expressing, in a very practical way, the youth solidarity with children.
This workshop is part of the youth involvement in the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children which seeks to bring together people of religion and good will to recommit themselves to work for the rights and dignity of children, and promote their, development, protection and wellbeing.
The choice of November 20 anniversary of the adoption of the Convention for the Right of the Child, emphasizes the fact that the Day of Prayer is an initiative connected to an already existing observance and have the full support of UNICEF. On that day, all over the world, in many places of worship and communities, prayer services will be accompanied by specific actions for the development and protection of children.
On Saturday 20 of November at 16.30 there will be an inter-religious prayer event open to the public to celebrate the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children. This event will take place at the site of the Jews Community, Hamdije Kresevljakovica 59, Sarajevo. Children, youth, religious people and everybody are invited to joint in this celebration that it will end with an informal reception.
This youth workshop and celebration are supported by the International Multireligious and Intercultural Centre (IMIC) in Bosnia and Herzegovina and also for the Day of Prayer and Action for Children Secretariat in New York and the Global Network of Religions for Children- Europe.
