Why partner with us?

Arigatou International is a not-for-profit interfaith organization dedicated exclusively to promoting and protecting children’s rights and well-being. It was founded 33 years ago by the late Rev. Takeyasu Miyamoto, a Japanese Buddhist leader and visionary who dedicated his life to promoting peace, which he believed began with protecting the dignity of every child.

Arigatou International proudly maintains a Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and the United Nations Department of Global Communications. Our long and fruitful partnerships with UNICEF, the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence against Children, and many other esteemed child-focused organizations are a testament to our credibility and commitment. For more information, visit our website at: https://arigatouinternational.org/

Over the last three decades, Arigatou International has made a significant global impact by establishing four important initiatives in various cities, with our headquarters located in Tokyo.

Our mission is carried out with a wide range of partners and through the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC), established in 2000 and now operating in over 73 countries. This expansive network brings together more than 1,700 grassroots organizations with members from diverse faiths and spiritual traditions, spanning Asia, Africa, Europe, the U.S.A, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean, showcasing our global reach and impact.

Our four initiatives are guided by universal human rights principles enshrined in the 1989 UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by the United Nations, and the 2017 Panama Declaration on Ending Violence Against Children adopted by the 5th Global Forum of the GNRC. This alignment ensures our partnership is beneficial, ethically sound, and impactful.

By participating in the upcoming 6th Global Forum All For Children
Abu Dhabi, November 19-21, 2024

Arigatou International will convene the GNRC 6th Global Forum of the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) in Abu Dhabi from November 19 to 21, 2024. As the GNRC approaches a quarter-century of interfaith collaboration, action, and dialogue in the service of children around the world, the 6th Forum is a pivotal moment for members to reflect on and celebrate the successes and positive transformations achieved since the network was inaugurated in 2000 at its first global forum.

The 5th Global Forum organized by the GNRC in Panama in 2017 brought together 526 participants from 70 countries, including faith leaders and members of the world’s major religions and spiritual traditions, representatives of government and the United Nations, and over 60 children and youth from many countries. Participants made a solemn commitment to greater effort and cooperation in ending violence against children and issued the Panama Declaration on Ending Violence Against Children

The World Day of Prayer and Action for Children is annually commemorated on Universal Children’s Day on November 20, when the United Nations unanimously adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989. This year, it will be celebrated with numerous key partners at the 6th Global Forum in Abu Dhabi.

The World Day has mobilized grassroots organizations in more than 93 countries and brought together civil society organizations, multilateral organizations, governments, and faith communities to elevate children’s rights and well-being while promoting and ensuring their participation. The World Day encourages activities that inspire tangible actions and reaffirm the commitment of faith actors to end violence against children. It also empowers children to be catalysts for change, with faith communities championing their meaningful participation in matters that concern them.
