World Day of Prayer and Action for Children will be celebrated on November 20.  Improving the welfare of children is an urgent global challenge.  The activities suggested for World Day for Children this year are education, community mobilization, and advocacy to reduce child mortality and improve maternal health.

The child mortality rate in Kenya is a little over 10 percent while that in Haiti is 20 percent.  That means that for every 10 children born in Kenya and for every 5 children born in Haiti, one will die before they reach the age of 5.
